Solo, Mozilla's generative-AI website creator, is closing. Every site and all stored data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, and Mozilla is telling users to export their sites now and move any purchased domains.

Mozilla has confirmed it is shutting down Solo, the generative-AI website builder it launched for solopreneurs. In a notice posted to Solo's support site (soloist.ai), Mozilla says all Solo websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, with no way to recover them after that date. The guidance to users is direct: download your site before the deadline and, if you bought a domain through Solo, move it before the service goes dark.
Solo started as a Mozilla Innovation project — a beta in late 2023, with a 1.0 release in 2024 — pitched as a way for non-technical solopreneurs to stand up a professional site from a few simple inputs, with AI writing the copy, choosing a layout, and bundling hosting and a custom domain. By its 1.0 milestone Mozilla said creators had published thousands of sites through it. It ran a free tier plus paid Solo Pro and Grow plans. Those plans are being wound down: Mozilla says active Pro and Grow subscribers get a prorated refund for unused time, calculated as of October 1, 2026, returned automatically to the original payment method.
Exporting is not one clean click. From Account Settings, Solo gives you a "Download Website Data" option that produces a ZIP with an HTML export of your site plus a CSV of links to your images — but the image files themselves are not inside the ZIP. You have to download each image individually from the CSV links before the shutdown, or they go with everything else. Domains are a separate task: domains registered through Solo need to be transferred (Mozilla points users to Name.com, with a different path for domains that were bought via IONOS), and that transfer has to be initiated before the service closes.
The closure fits a broader 2026 pattern of Mozilla retiring side products to refocus, and it lands squarely on a group least equipped to scramble — solo operators who picked Solo precisely because they did not want to manage web infrastructure. The export gives them a static snapshot of the site, not a living, editable website, which is the part worth planning around.
If you are a Solo user, the first move is purely defensive: export the HTML, pull every image down from the CSV, and start a domain transfer before November 30. Then host the snapshot somewhere that is not closing — a current site builder or static host will take an HTML export happily. [Kompozy](/) is not a website builder and will not re-host your Solo site; be clear-eyed about that and pick a real host for the pages themselves.
Where Kompozy fits is the half Solo never did. A brochure site sitting at your domain does not bring anyone to it — the content that does lives on social, in search, and in inboxes, and producing it week after week is exactly the work a one-time AI site generator left to you. Point Kompozy at one source — a short video, a few notes, an offer — and it generates finished, on-brand assets around your new site: [persona and avatar shorts](/glossary/persona-shorts), brand-exact carousels, quote cards, [blog articles and email newsletters](/glossary/output-buckets), and platform-native text, all governed by a [Persona Brief](/glossary/persona-brief) so the voice stays yours. Then its [autopilot](/glossary/autopilot) schedules and publishes across the eight social platforms plus blog and email through a per-post review pipeline. For a solopreneur who valued Solo for doing the marketing work they did not want to do, that ongoing engine is a closer match to the original appeal than any static export.
Mozilla has said all Solo websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, with no recovery possible after that date. Export your site and move any purchased domain before then.
Log into Solo, open Account Settings, and choose "Download Website Data." You receive a ZIP containing an HTML export of your site plus a CSV with links to your images. The image files are not inside the ZIP — download each one from the CSV links before November 30, 2026, or they are deleted with everything else.
Mozilla says active Solo Pro and Grow subscribers receive a prorated refund for unused time, calculated as of October 1, 2026, returned automatically to the original payment method. Confirm it arrives rather than assuming.
For the website itself, re-host your HTML export on a current site builder or static host and transfer your domain (Mozilla points to Name.com, with a separate route for IONOS domains). For the ongoing content and distribution Solo did not handle — social posts, clips, blogs, and newsletters — a generation-and-publishing engine like Kompozy covers that side.
