Refund and cancellation policy

Plain-English terms covering subscriptions, credit packs, EU/UK statutory rights, outages, and disputes.

The short version

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first paid monthif you have used less than 10% of that month’s included credits. After that, refunds are issued only in the specific circumstances listed below. Credit packs (Taster, Explorer, Heavy) are non-refundable once purchased but never expire.

1. Cancelling a subscription

You can cancel any subscription tier (Creator, Pro, Agency, or any Founding tier) directly from Settings → Billing. Cancellation is immediate from your side; access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing cycle, after which the account downgrades to the free tier.

We do not pro-rate the unused portion of a billing cycle. If you cancel mid-cycle, you keep full access until the cycle ends. This is industry-standard for SaaS subscriptions and matches Stripe’s default cancel-at-period-end behavior.

2. 7-day money-back guarantee (first paid month only)

If this is your first paid month on any subscription tier and you have used fewer than 10% of the included credits, you can request a full refund within 7 calendar days of the charge. The 10% cap exists because heavy usage (avatar shorts, generative video) costs us real money in third-party API fees that we cannot reclaim.

The 7-day money-back guarantee applies once per customer, on the first paid month only. Subsequent renewal charges and credit-pack purchases are not eligible.

3. Credit packs

Overflow credit packs (Taster $25, Explorer $99, Heavy $249) are non-refundable once purchased. They never expire and stack on top of your subscription. If you purchase a pack by accident within the previous 24 hours and have used zero credits from it, contact us at refunds@kompozy.io with your order ID and we will reverse the charge as a one-time courtesy.

4. EU and UK statutory rights (14-day cooling-off period)

Customers in the European Union and United Kingdom have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital subscriptions under the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By generating any output (text, image, video, blog, or newsletter) on Kompozy, you expressly consent to immediate performance of the digital service and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal for that subscription.

If you are an EU or UK customer and have made zero generations, you may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial subscription charge regardless of the 7-day money-back guarantee in Section 2. Email refunds@kompozy.io with your order ID and country of residence.

5. Outages and service availability

We run on Vercel + Supabase + third-party generation APIs (HeyGen, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Kie, and others). Brief disruptions happen and are not refundable. For outages of 24 hours or longer affecting your ability to generate content, contact support@kompozy.io and we will issue a pro-rated credit equivalent to the days affected.

Outages caused by third-party providers (HeyGen rate limits, OpenAI capacity events, Stripe webhook delays) are passed through with credit on the same 24-hour rule.

6. Account suspensions and terminations

If we suspend or terminate your account for violating the Terms of Service (abusive use, content-policy violations, fraud, chargebacks), no refund is issued. If we terminate your account for reasons unrelated to your conduct (we discontinue the service, regulatory mandate, or internal restructuring), we will refund any remaining time on your subscription pro-rated to the day of termination.

7. Chargebacks and disputes

Filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card network before contacting us at refunds@kompozy.io automatically suspends your account pending resolution and disqualifies you from future refunds. Chargebacks cost merchants a $15 fee per dispute regardless of outcome; please contact us first.

If your card was charged in error, double-charged, or used without your authorization, contact us immediately at refunds@kompozy.io. We resolve fraud-related refunds within 5 business days.

8. How to request a refund

Email refunds@kompozy.io with:

  • The email address on your Kompozy account
  • The Stripe order ID or invoice number (visible in Settings → Billing)
  • The reason for the request
  • Your country of residence (required for EU/UK statutory claims)

Eligible refunds are processed within 5 business days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe; transit time to your account depends on your bank, typically 3-10 business days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our pricing, tier structure, or regulatory environment changes. Material changes are announced in the changelog and via email to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect. The version in force at the time of your purchase governs that purchase.
