With Original Content Rewards replacing Revenue Sharing, X now judges each post against an originality standard: self-made media and value-adding commentary earn, while reposts, minor edits, and automated content are disqualified.

X's new Original Content Rewards program — announced August 8, 2026 by Senior Product Manager for Creators Allegra Jacchia, replacing the ad-based Creator Revenue Sharing program that winds down on September 7, 2026 — does more than change how payouts are calculated. It attaches an originality standard to eligibility, so that whether a post earns at all now turns on a judgment about how original it is. The guidance published alongside the launch reads less like a payout formula and more like a pass/fail test for authorship.
On the passing side, X names original writing and threads, reporting and analysis, firsthand accounts, self-shot photos and videos, custom illustrations and graphics, memes, and "reactions and commentary that add meaningful perspective" to an existing conversation. Transforming someone else's material can qualify too — but only when you add original context, narration, humor, or creative editing, not when you simply re-share it.
The disqualifier list is longer and more specific, and it is where the "test" framing comes from. Content is ineligible when it is copied or substantially reproduced from another creator, downloaded from another platform and reuploaded, or created through automated means. Simple modifications — captions, crops, borders, watermarks, speed changes, or text overlays without meaningful commentary — do not count, and neither do low-value reactions or reposts that add attribution but little analysis. X also excludes posts that receive a helpful Community Note, misleading content, material focused mainly on monetization coaching, artificially generated engagement, and repeated calls to like, repost, or follow.
Payouts are then metered by "qualified impressions": a qualified impression is a unique view from a Premium subscriber on the Home Timeline with at least 50% of the post on screen; paid, repeated, fraudulent, and artificially generated impressions are excluded. Reported eligibility at launch is an active X Premium subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and roughly 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over a trailing 90-day window, with biweekly payouts. Treat the exact thresholds as a launch snapshot — X can adjust them as the program rolls out — but the direction is settled: pay for original authorship seen by paying viewers, and screen out everything that reads as derivative or automated.
Read X's disqualifier list closely and it is really one rule: is there genuine authorship and original value here, or is this derivative and automated? That distinction is the honest frame for using any AI tool with this program. Raw model output posted to farm the rewards pool fails the test — X excludes "automated means" outright — and no tool, [Kompozy](/) included, changes that. What passes is your original idea, footage, reporting, or point of view. So the useful question is not "can software beat the originality test" but "where does my genuinely original work earn, given how narrow this one gate is?"
That is the job Kompozy is built for, and it is a production-and-distribution job, not a farming one. You bring the original source — a talk, a client call, a piece of reporting, your own footage — and, governed by your [Persona Brief](/glossary/persona-brief), Kompozy turns it into the kind of original media X's own list names as qualifying: self-narrated [Persona Shorts](/glossary/persona-shorts), custom brand graphics and quote cards through [HyperFrames](/glossary/hyperframes), and carousels built from your material rather than someone else's. You review each piece behind a per-post gate — the place to make sure the commentary is really yours and adds value — before [Autopilot](/glossary/autopilot) schedules and publishes it across the eight social platforms plus blog and email from one queue. If your X account clears the originality test, keep feeding it original posts; but the same authored ideas are also earning attention on the many surfaces that never asked you to hit 500,000 verified impressions first.
It is the originality standard X applies under its Original Content Rewards program, which replaces Creator Revenue Sharing. Each post is judged on whether it is genuinely original — original writing, self-shot media, custom graphics, or value-adding commentary earn, while copied, reuploaded, minor-edited, or automated content is disqualified.
Passes: original threads and articles, reporting and firsthand accounts, self-made photos, videos, illustrations, and graphics, and commentary that adds meaningful perspective. Fails: content copied from other creators, downloaded and reuploaded from other platforms, generated by automated means, or changed only with captions, crops, speed, or overlays — plus posts that get a helpful Community Note.
Not on its own. X excludes content created "through automated means," so posting raw AI output to farm rewards fails the test. Using AI as a production tool for your own original ideas, footage, and point of view is different from publishing automated content with no genuine authorship.
Reported launch requirements are an active X Premium (or Premium+/Business) subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and roughly 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over a trailing 90-day window, with an account in good standing. Payouts are issued biweekly, and thresholds may change as the program rolls out.
